Multi-Provider Fallback
Free translation infrastructure can be rate-limited or temporarily unavailable. To keep the online translator responsive, SNOWMTL uses a fallback chain across several independent translation providers. If one provider is slow or rejects a request, the platform automatically retries with the next provider in the chain — usually in well under a second from your perspective. Repeated phrases are cached, so common lines translate almost instantly on later requests.
The OCR Translation Pipeline
The image translator adds an extra step before translation: optical character recognition (OCR). When you upload a JPG, PNG, or WEBP image, our OCR translator pipeline detects readable text regions, extracts the characters, and passes that extracted text into the same translation engine used by the text translator.
