Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the SNOWMTL free AI translator — the text translator, the image translator, supported languages, accounts, and more.

General Questions

What is SNOWMTL?

SNOWMTL is a free AI translator built around two core tools: a text translator for pasted or typed content, and an image translator that uses OCR to extract and translate text found inside photos, screenshots, and scanned pages. Together they function as a lightweight, multilingual online translator you can use directly in your browser, without installing any software.

Is SNOWMTL really free to use?

Yes. The text translator and image translator are free, subject to a fair daily usage allowance that resets every day. There are no mandatory subscriptions or paid tiers required to access the core AI translator features, and you do not need a credit card to start translating.

Do I need to create an account?

No — you can use both the text translator and the image translator as a guest. Creating a free account is optional and mainly useful if you want to keep a synced history of past translations and saved files across sessions and devices.

What makes SNOWMTL different from other online translators?

Many online translator tools focus on a single format — either text or documents. SNOWMTL combines a fast text translator with a genuinely useful OCR translator for images in one interface, uses a multi-provider fallback chain to stay reliable when one provider is rate-limited, and keeps the entire experience free rather than gating basic functionality behind a paywall.

Text Translator

How does the text translator work?

Paste or type text into the text translator, choose your target language (or let the system auto-detect the source language), and submit. The AI translator processes the request and returns natural-sounding output rather than a rigid, word-for-word substitution.

Is there a character limit for the text translator?

Yes, there is a per-request character limit designed to keep translation quality high and response times fast for everyone. If you need to translate a longer document, break it into logical sections — such as paragraphs — and translate each one individually through the text translator.

Can I use SNOWMTL as a document translator?

You can use the text translator as a lightweight document translator for text-based content by pasting sections of a document, email, or article. We recommend translating in manageable chunks for the clearest, most accurate results, especially for longer or more technical documents.

Why did my translation come back slightly different the second time?

SNOWMTL automatically routes requests across a fallback chain of independent translation providers to stay fast and reliable. If the primary provider was busy or rate-limited, your request may have been served by a different provider with a slightly different translation style, though meaning should remain consistent.

Image Translator & OCR

How does the image translator / OCR translator work?

Upload a JPG, PNG, or WEBP image to the image translator. Our OCR translator pipeline scans the image for readable text regions, extracts the characters, and passes that text into the same translation engine used by the text translator — letting you translate images without retyping anything by hand.

What file types and sizes does the image translator accept?

The image translator accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WEBP files up to the upload size limit shown on the upload screen. Very large or extremely high-resolution files may need to be resized before uploading for the best OCR translator performance.

Why did the OCR translator miss some text in my image?

OCR accuracy depends on image quality. Low resolution, poor lighting, blur, extreme angles, decorative fonts, and handwriting all increase the chance that some characters are misread or skipped. For best results, use a straight-on, well-lit, in-focus photo or screenshot with reasonably standard fonts.

Can I translate a screenshot of a chat or social media post?

Yes — screenshots are one of the most common use cases for the image translator. As long as the text in the screenshot is reasonably legible, our OCR translator can extract and translate it the same way it would handle a photographed sign or printed page.

Supported Languages & Accuracy

Which languages does SNOWMTL support?

SNOWMTL supports a wide range of major world languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, and Turkish, with more added over time as our multilingual translation coverage expands.

How accurate is AI translation?

Accuracy varies by language pair, text clarity, and context. Common language pairs with clean, well-structured input tend to produce the most natural results. Idioms, slang, and highly technical or legal terminology are harder for any AI translator to handle perfectly — see our Disclaimer for more on accuracy limits.

Can I trust translations for legal or medical documents?

We recommend against relying solely on any automated online translator, including SNOWMTL, for legal, medical, or other high-stakes documents. Use our tools to get a quick understanding, then verify important details with a qualified human translator or professional before making decisions based on the content.

Does SNOWMTL detect the source language automatically?

Yes. Both the text translator and the OCR translator pipeline can automatically detect the source language in most cases, so you usually only need to select the target language you want to translate into.

Accounts, Privacy & Security

Is my submitted text or image private?

We process the text and images you submit only to generate the translation you requested. Full details on data handling, retention, and third-party translation providers are documented in our Privacy Policy.

Does SNOWMTL use cookies?

Yes, primarily essential cookies for keeping you signed in and remembering basic preferences like your last-used target language. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and purposes.

How do I delete my account?

Reach out through our Contact Us page and request account deletion. We will remove your account and associated saved history in line with the process described in our Privacy Policy.

Support & Policies

Are there any paid plans or upgrades?

Not currently. SNOWMTL operates as a free AI translator without paid tiers. Read our Refund Policy for how we would handle billing if that ever changes.

What should I do if a translation looks wrong?

First, try rephrasing the original text more simply, since shorter and clearer sentences generally translate more accurately. If the issue persists, let us know through our Contact Us page with the original text or image and the languages involved so we can investigate.

Where can I learn more tips for using the online translator?

Visit our Blog for guides on getting more accurate results from the text translator and image translator, understanding OCR limitations, and working with multilingual content more effectively.

How do I contact SNOWMTL support?

Use the Contact Us page and fill in the name, email, subject, and message fields. We read every message and typically respond within one to two business days.

Can I use SNOWMTL on my phone?

Yes. The text translator and image translator are both designed to work in mobile browsers, so you can paste text or upload a photo directly from your phone’s camera roll while traveling, shopping, or chatting with someone in another language, without installing a separate app.

Does SNOWMTL work offline?

No. Because the AI translator relies on live translation providers and OCR processing on our servers, an internet connection is required to translate text or images. We recommend downloading or noting key translations before losing connectivity, such as before a flight or in an area with limited signal.

Will SNOWMTL ever require payment for the tools I use today?

The features currently available for free — the text translator and the image translator, up to their daily limits — are intended to remain free. Any future paid options would be optional additions layered on top, not a replacement for existing free access. See our Refund Policy for more on how we would handle that transition if it ever happens.
